Say Yes: Discovering Purpose, Peace and Abundance in Daily Life
by Christina Semmens

English and Spanish translation in one book!

This book is a treasure! It’s just the book I was looking for as I pursue a deeper spiritual life, a closer relationship with Jesus, more heartfelt personal prayer and a stronger commitment to surrender to Jesus, placing my trust in Him.

Due to the rivalry between some aristocratic families, St. Rita’s husband was murdered, his mutilated body dumped on the family’s doorstep. Their enraged teenaged sons vowed a vendetta.

5 Mysteries of Mercy

The Mysteries of the Rosary offer intense events within the lives of Jesus and Mary for focus and contemplation while we recite the prayers of each decade of the Rosary. While the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is considerably shorter, I started wishing there were associated Mysteries of Mercy to contemplate during each decade of prayers.  In Scripture, we see Jesus model His Mercy as He interacts with the people and preaches to them. I did search online for Mysteries of Mercy, but only after I tried my best to extrapolate them for myself from Jesus’ Public Ministry.

New Prompts to Pray in a Hurting Church

Custom Jesus Icon: Self-Guided Icon Retreat!

Recently, I purchased this book Drawing Closer to Christ: A Self-Guided Icon Retreat by Joseph Malham* as I had heard of Icon Retreats before and was excited to try this at home!

The book is formatted with Scriptural and Theological reflections alongside step-by-step instructions to create a traditional painted Icon. I appreciated the special tips along the way, even though I opted to create a different image and use less traditional materials. While the author directs us to trace, etch and paint on a wood surface, I opted for a framed canvas from the dollarstore.  While I didn’t have access to traditional gold foil, my “gold spun” acrylic paint plus a little gold glitter paint added the texture and color and sparkle I was looking for.

Why I Love My Catholic Faith

  1. The Eucharist. Just as we reminded ourselves on the Feast of Corpus Christi this past Sunday, we believe as Catholics that Jesus is present to us from the moment of Consecration when the bread and wine are transubstantiated into His Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, from the inside out. He is thus present in all the Tabernacles in all the Catholic Churches throughout the world and we can visit His Holy Presence almost any time we want.

2. Confession. What an incredible Sacrament this is! We receive the full Mercy of God through this Sacrament when we humble ourselves to confess our faults and failings to a priest, receive absolution, do penance and resolve to sin no more!
