Feast Day Fun: Holy Family!

This is one of my favorite Feast Days of the whole Liturgical Calendar!

The Feast of the Holy Family!

I’ve made a number of Holy Family/ Nativity sets over the years. This was a gift for Bill, the Christmas before we were married. The figures were loosely based on patterns I found in a magazine…and the clothing and the stable were architected improvised with limited sewing skills.

Feast Day Fun: St Clare of Assisi

Welcome to Feast Day Fun: St Clare of Assisi!

St Clare was born in Assisi and consecrated herself to Jesus at an early age. She met St Francis and was inspired by him and started the order of nuns called the Poor Clares. She defended the convent from soldiers by holding up the monstrance and causing them to flee! When she became too ill to attend Mass, she miraculously saw Mass in her room. She is the patron saint of sore eyes and television!

Kids’ QuoteBooks #WorthRevisit

Kids say and do the funniest things. We think we’re going to remember who said what when, but as the kids get older, it’s amazing how their antics can blend together! Writing down the funny things they say and do at the time …is the best! The fridge calendar can be just that handy place to record all the little gems that you’ll be glad you captured. Every once in a while…I have transposed those little dated moments in cute little dollar store books: one for each child. I have recorded first words, dates the teeth came in or out and monumental “firsts”. I know which kid said

“to da-vity and beyon’!”

Feast Day Fun: St Peter and St Paul

June 29  is the Feast Day of St. Peter and St Paul.

Peter and Paul are two very important characters from the Early Church.

Peter was the most frequently mentioned member of the original 12 Apostles, who traveled with Jesus throughout His Public Ministry and could testify to the Resurrection. Jesus foretold that this apostle would be the rock upon which the Church would be built.  Despite Peter’s betrayal of Jesus after His Arrest, St Peter led the Apostles, became the first pope and was martyred for his faith.
