I don’t know about you, but the Christmas Shopping List is pretty daunting. I’m hoping to get a couple gifts for the whole family and then chip away at getting a few items for each person. While I’m scouting out these purchases, I decided to recommend my absolute favorites, in case that’s of use to you!
Holy Mysteries! {Book Review}
What a cool book!
Holy Mysteries! by Sophie de Mullenheim explores 12 mysteries within the Catholic Church, including miraculous healings at Lourdes, the Eucharistic miracle at Lanciano, the stigmata experienced by St Padre Pio and incorrupt Saints whose bodies have remained intact well beyond the grave.
We Have a Pope {Book Review}
We Have a Pope
We Have a Pope, written by Katherine Bogner and illustrated by Kortnee Senn is an exquisite children’s book explaining how each pope is prayerfully elected, beginning with St. Peter, chosen by Jesus Himself!

Imagine You Walked with Jesus: A Guide to Ignatian Contemplative Prayer {Book Review}
Imagine You Walked with Jesus: A Guide to Ignatian Contemplative Prayer
by Jerry Windley-Daoust
Our Sunday Visitor
This book is a treasure!
Windley-Daoust provides all the context of first-century Palestine, including what the buildings looked and felt like, what clothes the people wore, and what food they enjoyed, as well as insights into the Jewish culture of the time. He provides prayer to help us receive the specific Scripture and then ‘sets the scene’ with helpful detail about the context, given the culture and any special references alluded to within the Scripture. The author then extends a few questions to prompt reflection and consider how the story applies to our lives. He encourages us to reflect and prayer-journal or share with a prayer group.

Know Thyself! {Card Game Review}
Know Thyself! The Game of Temperaments
Sophia Institute Press
So a number of my family members are a little skeptical about the Four Temperaments and personality theory. We’ve all had a few experiences of feeling a little pigeonholed by friends who have just discovered personality theories and are eager to apply them.
Review: The Illustrated Bible for Children by Magnificat/Ignatius Press
I am so excited to review this NEW Illustrated Bible for Children by the Magnificat division of Ignatius Press. It’s beautifully illustrated with relatively simple and very sweet illustrations in a comic book format for kids 7 years old and up. The font is a nice size with a combination of CAPS for narration and upper and lower case for dialogue. The people are smiley cartoon (my categorization) in gentle and friendly settings, color and formatting.
