We are so excited to be reviewing Saint Mail! The kind people at Saint Mail have generously offered us a subscription…all the way up here in Canada and we have received the intro package, along with the January edition from St Sebastian!
I was actually looking up ideas to make some homemade bow and arrows (see some links below!) to celebrate St Sebastian’s feast day on January 20, but the package from Saint Mail has all the materials, instructions…and so much more!
Saint Mail is a subscription service providing a monthly package with all the goodies needed to celebrate and craft and learn about a special Saint of the month.
We received our intro package back in December and we were intrigued by the nice mail bag, the little cardboard box and ball chain, Saint Mail sticker and intro letter.
We were blown away by the January package…and eagerly began to compile and collect the items in our mailbag. The St Sebastian medal fits on the little ball chain. When a kid isn’t wearing the chain…they can be stored in the little cardboard box, along with the St Sebastian dog tag. We can’t wait to see what we get next month to build our collection!
The special letter from St Sebastian is wax-sealed for added authenticity!
Adam was fascinated with the dental floss (he had his first real visit to the dentist this week) and both Adam and Bridget are pretty excited about making the bows and arrows!
St Sebastian was condemned to be killed by arrows, just because he was Christian! He was shot down, but restored to health by St Irene. When discovered, he was again condemned and this time killed by clubs. He is remembered for his strength and endurance and remains the patron of athletes. This short bio is an excerpt from A Treasure Chest of Traditions for Catholic Families, but Saint Mail includes a much more detailed, but easy-to-read and inspiring bio of St Sebastian.
I’m so happy that Saint Mail exists…and that they are letting us try it out! It really has all the materials to help celebrate each saint’s feast day…and it arrives well before the actual day, so no excuses to try and squeeze it in, after the fact! All the research is done, the materials are all good quality, any instructions are easy to follow and the information is fun to read. This will definitely motivate us to more actively celebrate the saints!
Of my 5 kids (3.5 years up to almost 18), my youngest 2 are the perfect recipients of Saint Mail! Bridget (7 years) eagerly reads the instructions and helps to open all the little packages and the three of us can easily work together on the craft.
The saint information will be great for all ages…and just what we need to build our devotion to new saints! There is even a “family chat” card with questions from the Saint…to introduce the Saint and guide some interesting conversations at dinnertime!
I like how the materials arrive by mail (everyone loves mail!) and the contents of the material get my kids working together and learning and loving the Saints!
